My mother brought our first poodle puppy home when I was 3 yrs old. She was sitting with an elderly woman at
night. They had an adorable white poodle that she thought was the most beautiful dog she'd ever seen. She would let
him out to potty while she was at their home. She just had to have one of her own. Mama found our white
poodle puppy. He was $100 and she paid him out!! That was 50 yrs ago.
My grandpa was the "dogcatcher" until
I was a teenager. I had lots of pets to love, however I also saw the dark side. Back then, he took the unwanted dogs, cats,
puppies and kittens to the dump ground and "disposed" of them. In a small town this was just the way it was done.
Forty years later, our kids are all grown and gone.
I work in my grooming shop in my backyard. I've had a poodle all my life but never had poodle puppies. So Summer of
2004 I began Peachtree Poodles. I bought my poodles from reputable breeders around the country. I still keep in contact
with most of them.
I love what I do, which includes Pet grooming, boarding my regular customers,
Pet Photography and now adorable, healthy puppies.
The name "Peachtree" is in honor of my daddy, who is
the best daddy in the world. He loves to eat green peaches right off the tree. His favorite tree is the peachtree. When I
lived in Ohio mama and daddy visited every year. One summer daddy bought a peachtree and planted in my front yard. When we
moved back to Texas, I got my State Sales Tax number and had to name my grooming business. hence "Peachtree
Poodle Place", and now "Peachtree Poodles".
Daddy built this small lake cottage that I live in back in 1979, over
the years he has added on. We helped Daddy finish out the building for my grooming shop in 1996. In 2004 Daddy
had to quit driving because he has Macular Degeneration and is now legally blind. Memorial Day weekend of 2006 I helped Daddy
(who is now 80 yrs old) put up my "Poodle Yard" fence. Pretty good for a blind man huh? He had just finished building
on a covered patio onto his house in town. He still fixes and builds by feeling. He is an honorable, christian man; Very special!
Update Feb 2007:
I am having the front porch boxed in for another room. I never have enough space!!
My front porch is very well built. It has the metal roof just as the rest of the house. It is going to be an 8 X 12
room with 2 windows and a metal door with a big paned window to let in the east sunshine. It will be very well insulated so
as not to be so costly to heat and cool. My energy bill is about to eat my lunch!!! due to keeping the puppies
warm in this very unusually cold winter.
Nov 28, 2014 My Daddy turned 89 yrs old. Nov 30 My Daddy broke his hip. Dec 16 My Daddy passed away............... Dec
8 was the last meal Daddy ate on earth. I fed him supper that evening, he was so sick he could hardly eat. There
was a cup of peaches on his tray. He could barely speak, he quietly asked me "is that peaches?" Peaches
was the last thing he ate in this world. Nov 30th 2014 My Daddy was a 6ft tall vibrant, healthy man that broke his hip
socket, had a plastic socket replaced in less than hour surgery, and within days he was dead due to negligence and medical
error.

Update: Feb 2013: More chicks on the way.
I lost one of my Buff Orpington Hens to a HAWK on Sun Aft, Feb 24, 2013. I ordered 10 Buff Brahma pullets. Due to arrive first
week in April 2013. I still have 4 of my first chicks left. 2 Barred Rock and 2 New Hampshire Reds, they will be 5 yrs
old this summer.
Lost another hen Fri Mar 1, died in the nest. Probably egg
bound. 5 young Orps left. AUG 16, 2014:
not happy with the buff brahmas. the feathers on feet are cruddy looking, they don't lay many eggs and the eggs are cream,
not brown, and small. I have 2 Barred Rock left and 2 New Hampshire Reds left, they are 6 yrs old now, I have 3 Buff Orpingtons
left. Right now I have a total of 17 hens.
I decided to get more chicks since I had only
5 left after 6 got slaughtered a year ago.
I got online and all hatchery's around the country were backordered!!
I finally found a place in which I could order a small number for a high shipping price. So I ordered 7 Buff Orpington Pullets.
They arrived May 25, 2011. As I did with the first ones, I am keeping them in the house in the 'boys' room and will carry
them in and out according to the heat until they are old enough to stay outside, and then slowly introduce them to my 5- 3
yr old hens.
